Crisis, Risk & Resilience Conference 2023

The CATO Crisis, Risk & Resilience Conference will bring together participants from across the Australian travel and tourism sector. Subject matter experts and industry leaders will provide insights and analysis on how to mitigate adversity based on actions (and in-action) of travel related entities.

    Conference topics include:

    Legal – Australian Consumer Law

What is required to ensure that your business (a) meets its duty of care to customers and (b) mitigates commercial risks which may flow from a crisis event through effective legal documentation. We also undertake a detailed analysis of what is the role of an agent v principal (tour operator/wholesaler) and what risk prevention measures are critical to your business.

Case Study – “Calm to Chaos”

One CATO Member will share intimate details of a major evacuation that was coordinated with the Australian Government at the onset of COVID.

    Airport Operations and disaster preparation

How does Australia’s largest airport operator prepare for disaster and what resilience was required in dealing with wild fluctuations in air traffic and passenger chaos that prevailed during and in a post-COVID era.

    The Reality of Travel Risk

A leading insurance broker will highlight areas of risk for attendees to understand what is the appropriate insurance coverage to avoid financial ruin where an incident is out of your control, and what happens following an incident where a policy is triggered?

    Cyber Security

Hear from a cyber guru set to take you on a journey that will have you in stitches, until it is your business that is impacted. When disaster strikes and IT systems are impacted, it is too late to start planning, and how you will manage the situation.

Sector Analysis: Adventure | Student Travel | Touring | FIT | Youth

Experts from across different sectors share their view on changing landscapes and what the future may hold for each of their specialties.

    Crisis Leadership

Hear from a leader within one of Australia’s largest travel businesses about how to deliver effective decision-making in times of crisis, and how the impact of a crisis can be minimised by well-prepared teams.
