The Student Educational Travel Organisation (SETO)

SETO is the national peak body representing Australia’s student educational travel sector. SETO brings together specialist tour operators, suppliers, teachers, schools and universities who believe in the power of learning beyond the classroom and acts as a conduit between the travel and education sectors.

SETO Membership

Membership of SETO is a hallmark of competence and integrity for student travel tour operators that supply products and/or services for Australian schools and students traveling all over the world. Our members are specialists who work in conjunction with education departments and schools to make the student's journey, no matter how big or small, a more meaningful and safer experience.

SETO Tour Operators

Australian based, student educational travel tour operators and wholesalers can apply for Full Membership. Dual Membership with CATO is also available.

SETO Affiliate Members

Affiliate Members are product suppliers such as a day tour operator, gallery, wildlife park and/or service providers such as transportation companies who enable SETO full members to deliver their journeys.

SETO Pillars

SETO's activities focus on three key areas for our members to assist with maintaining the highest possible standards for the industry. SETO acts as a representative body for its members and will be in regular contact, lobbying both State and Federal Governments on issues directly related to the well-being of student educational travel. SETO provides members and key stakeholders with educational opportunities directly related to the student educational travel sector.

Governance

SETO aspires to build confidence across the educational travel landscape, fostering an environment where schools and teachers feel confident and supported in organising their excursion. Our Governance Pillar is underpinned by the SETO Quality Standards Certification, SETO’s Guiding Principles and Commitment to Sustainability.

Advocacy

We don’t just represent our members. We advocate on their behalf, working to shape policies, regulations, and industry standards that reflect the real-world needs of tour operators, educators, and students. SETO advocates unity and one voice in representing the Australian educational travel sector through coordinated and concise government liaison and open dialogue with other industry sectors on relevant industry needs.

Education

SETO aspires to identify educational business-related opportunities to support member needs across multiple areas including, but not limited to compliance, legal, marketing and crisis management.

Members are offered support across many areas of their organisation to deliver consistency in business practice across the sector. SETO aspires to facilitate discussion groups relating to relevant industry matters, specific sectors, and destinations and providing networking opportunities for members to engage with like-minded organisations.

SETO Quality Standards (SQS) Certification

The SETO Quality Standards (SQS) provide a clear, trusted benchmark for safe, ethical, and student centred educational travel. Independently audited, SQS Certification provides schools, teachers, and parents with confidence that a provider not only values experiential learning but has committed to deliver it with the highest levels of care, accountability, and integrity.
